Sailing
I love sailing. And I love Door County. It's a great combination.
I really do love sailing. In all its forms – from powered up on a windsurfer
on a whitecaps with rollers kind of day, to your classic "red sails in the sun-
set" evening drifter with some friends on our little sharpie schooner.
Okay, my wife will point out that I am partial to being powered up, but
even a drifter has its pleasures. In fact, the truth is that for day-sailors,
cruisers, long distance voyages, windsurfers, kite-boarders, and yes even
racers, the challenge often is to optimize meager resources. A first time
sailboat racer noted the eerie silence after the pandemonium of the start
as every crew sought to get their vessels moving to the best advantage in
the light and variable breezes. It truly is an ever-changing chess game as
one side of the course suddenly and inexplicably >>>
