This is a watercolor rendition of the famous Michigan Street steel bridge on this, the cover of our
beta launch issue. Remember the time you had to wait for the bridge while that sailboat was
meandering through? Well, this is why. The sailboat was modeling for an artist – the artist Andrew
Jack Andropolis, is one of the longest living continuous' resident artists in Door County. He is
known as both Andy and Jack - hence the name of his gallery new digital gallery - AndyJack's.
Jack's mother was born and raised in Door County and after college Jack and his young
family moved back to Door County full-time in 1961. He has truly lived the true Door County life.
Having had four galleries here at various times throughout his life (Falling off the roof of one! but
that's another story). Buying a homestead on the bay with his wife Ann, and running a small fam-
ily resort on the property since 1968. This, along with raising four boys and being a co-owner with
his wife of a family diner for 38 years in Sturgeon Bay, of which the last 18 years it was known as
Perry's Cherry Diner (AndyJack also happens to be our publishers father). You could say they
lived the Cherry Life! He and his wife reside just outside of Sturgeon Bay, on the water of course
spending many days with their grandchildren.
He so graciously agreed to let us use this piece for our cover, and by use we mean have it
animated through our innovation studio. Take a look at the cover again! His work will also initially
be one of the select few featured artists in our just launched Fine Art/Photo gallery, the Door
County Social Fine Art Gallery Store (link). Click through to see and enjoy a broad snapshot of his
work. There you could order the above picture - what a great conversation piece!
We are now considering pieces for our next cover. Suggestions?
