Carol Davis Author
Carol has been writing for a long time. She has several books
published and several magazine articles published. She loves
to write and finds that writing is a great avenue to be creative.
She loves to escape to write and what a great place to escape
in beautiful Door County where she lives and works. She looks
for places and there are many in Door County….. to sit and
write and be creative. "I think God shows us a little bit of
heaven in Door County!" She also loves to sew – so it is hard
at times to balance her time between these two loves.
Talking about loves – she loves the Lord, her husband, Steve,
and her four wonderful children and three wonderful
grandsons!!! "I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful God
and family. We have had bumps along our path, as most
families do, but we decided to stick together as family and love
and forgive each other. Hard work, but great dividends!"
Carol is also a grief counselor and is working on two novels
about walking with someone going through grief. "Seeing grief
through the eyes of someone experiencing it helps those who
are going through grief, as well as those whom surround that
person in grief. We don't know how to grieve or allow others
to grieve in America."
Carol has many ideas for writing, but time or the lack of it is
the problem. Carol suffers with Dysautonomia, a condition
where the autonomic system does not work properly. Instead
on focusing on what she can't do, she uses her energy for what
she can do – and is thankful.
Jan Rasmussen Illustrator
Illustrating a children's book wasn't something Jan had
envisioned herself doing until her cousins visiting from Kansas
suggested the idea. Then a few months later, Carol presented
her with the opportunity to illustrate " A Door County Night Before
Christmas." With some trepidation, she agreed to try it.
Painting those pictures was an uphill battle at times, with the
words, "I can't do it" making occasional visits, but in the end, it
was more enjoyable than anxiety provoking. The illustrations
were completed and the book was printed.
